Lumpy, Bumpy & Frumpy!

I hate the first month or so after having a baby....

Ok let me clarify, I love my baby!!!! I hate my body. I usually hate my body, but I hate it much worse straight after having a baby.

For starters, I hurt, so that means I have to wear looseish clothes that make me look even bigger than I am. I dont yet fit back into my pre bump clothes & maternity clothes fall of. Quite literally...
Last night I was settling Libby in her cot & whilst leaning over my duds fell to the floor!!! Pretty funny really!

I see friends spring back to their pre baby bodies within a week of birthing their babes, and I just get all lumpy & bumpy....
I fear this time around it is going to take some HARD yakka to get rid of the excess belly. Maybe I should have asked the surgeon for a tummy tuck while he was as it?

I have my dress fitting for my best friend's wedding tomorrow. Dreading it.

Oh Beck! (((hugs))) I love you just the way you are, and your body is great because it houses YOU!

But geez, the lumpy bumy frumpy feeling can make a gal so down. Wish I still lived close so we could encourage each other with the hard yakka of which you speak.

After Joseph was born I noticed that I was still left with all thee lumpy/bumpy over my tummy that I started with before I fell pregnant! Darn. I thought it was gone because at 35/36 weeks, my tummy skin was stretched so tightly over the baby - I thought the fat was gone!

Alas. It's still there. Giving me an odd shape.

PS I was seriously going to joke with the surgeon and ask for some lipo. The only reason I didn't was because I thought he'd say, "If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me that ..."

Because I assume that we all feel lumpy/bumpy/frumpy to some extent.

I really actually meant to ask if he could put a squirt of Selleys No More Gaps in my sacroiliac joint. Totally forgot.

PPS I'm planning to come to the Garden Party on Saturday wearing my Magic Knickers to suck it all in, and 3/4 jeans that still are a size too small.

So if I look slightly slim to you, just know I am probably hurting. For fashion. Stupid.

I *could* say, "But look - you have that beautiful baby! It makes it all worth it!"... except that (a) you'd hit me, and (b) if I were in your position I'd be feeling exactly the same way and I'd probably be WAAAAY more whiny about it!

Hang in there; it will get better. Just make sure you're not wearing any loose-ish duds when you're out in public. :)

I'm so sorry you're feeling blah, and what a time to have a dress fitting. Wish I could make it all go away for you.

Yeah, your body has its priorities, and your shape isn't one of them.

Do you have some of that magic elastic expensive shaping underwear stuff? Will it hurt your scar?

And post some more baby pictures, for heaven's sake. We love 'em!
