Choosing names!

GAH

Why is it that the wife pours over name books writing down all the ones she likes, whilst the husband scraps all the names she likes. Even adores! To only come up with NOTHING himself?!

Our child is going to be nameless I am sure!

Femina Junior is a nice name... (by which of course I mean My Real Name Junior). I wouldn't even mind if you left off the 'Junior' part. Honestly.

For boys I used to love the name Caleb until I found out it means dog in Hebrew. Not so keen on it now...

Arrgghhh I know exactly what you mean! This happened with our first daughter. In the end I cracked it. Gave him the baby book and sent him off to our room to look through it all and write down all the names that stood out, or grabbed him.
Then he folded and held his list, and I went off with the book and did the same. Then we sat together and swapped lists. We said aloud each name and crossed off ones we thought didn't fit. In the end there were 3 names that we have the same, We talked about each one. I wrote them out, with our surname, and also with the other kids names, lol
One stood out loud and clear. And so she was named :D

You have plenty of time, the right name will come to you :)

It must be tough. I mean your kid is going to have that name their whole life - It is a big decision. Not helped by party poopers with no suggestions of their own :)

we took forever to get names, not only the first name is hard, what to use as a second name too!!!

My uncle simply told everyone that the baby was going to be Alcibiades if it was a boy - so we were all happy with the final 'real' name. I'm certain Sam is very happy, too.

Good Luck with the picking, and I reckon that she who undergoes labour gets more of a vote than he who doesn't have any suggestions anyway.

Oh boy, not easy!!! If mine is a girl, I think we'll be fine. But I am, I'm certain, going to give birth to "The Unnamed Baby Boy project."

Smoochy Girl came perilously close to being named that.

How about Thingamababy ... for REAL? Threaten Swift Jim with THAT.

My sister gave birth to a boy to the IMMENSE surprise of all... my brother-in-law is a cyclist/triathlete and most male cyclists father girls (9 out of 10 male cyclists on the Tour De France have fathered girls only, apparently). Anyway, they were so shocked at having a boy that my poor little nephew was two weeks old before they decided on a name - so all the cards he received at his birth are addressed to "Little No Name" or "What's-his-name". There'll probably be years of therapy later...

Start suggesting really awful names but be deadly serious about them .. all of a sudden the other names will appear much nicer :p
